How does a Poet give Birth
How does a poet give birth,
to words of rhyme, to thoughts of worth?
Does he labor in pain to compose a refrain,
to mark his brief tenure on earth?
Verses may fall from his pen
from a heart that's beating within,
as they seemingly flow from an unseen plateau,
delivered to him by the wind.
Often the words he conceives
are born out of what he believes,
from the loftiest height to the darkest of night,
in happiness or when he grieves.
